How to print your own stationery

1. Choose How to Print

There are a number of ways to print your wedding stationery—at home, at a local printer, office supplies/stationery store, or with an online printer.

Tip: Often the most affordable way is not at home, but at a local printer/stationery store! Why, we hear you cry? Well, it’s the Ink. Ink cartridges are expensive and they have a nasty habit of being inconsistant

But don’t let that stop you if you’ve got one of those amazing printers which plays nice and will do what you ask. Just please make sure to test out everything first to save time and money.

2. Choose The Right Paper

You’re going to learn a lot about paper during this process, and for good reason, as it’s your most important choice (well that and the kick-ass design). To get to grips with thickness/ weight (GSM) we recommend heading down to your local stationery store or ordering samples from online paper shops to get an idea which type of card you like and the finish you’re after. Matt or glossy, heavy or light, linen or card.  Tip: remember if you go for a thicker card it may not go through your home printer and linen finishes may bleed when trying to print on your own.

Envelopes are next and readily available for a great price online, it’s worth shopping around. You don't always have to go with plain white, but if you choose a dark envelope remember that you will either need to use labels for the addresses or a light pen.

3. Print Your Stationery

This will again depend on your printing method. To print at a printer/office supplies/stationery just bring in the high resolution PDF files we sent to you on a USB stick or CD, as well as your paper (or knowledge of what you want to print on) and get them going!

Tip: For home printers make sure your settings are for HIGHEST QUALITY, your chosen paper (like matte etc), same size and NOT set to "Scale to fit". This will make your stationery too small. Follow our handy print out for tips on setting up your home printer.

4. Cut Your Stationery

If you have a steady hand and have good cutting tools, then it's easiest to do it yourself. (Tip: Very often printers/office supply stores have a paper cutter, or will even cut for you. But make sure to test it all out since some are more accurate than others!)

Tip: It's best to have a cutting mat and cut within the edges of your paper rather than slicing off the sides. This way you will keep your cropmarks. Don’t forget to check your blade to make it’s still sharp.

And that's it!
